Similar to the Blues Trail, the Mississippi Freedom Trail also consists of markers that serve as a reminder of Mississippi’s prominence in the battle for civil justice. As part of the United States Civil Rights Trail, these markers commemorate sites and people who’ve shaped Mississippi’s rich history of civil rights activism that has also influenced the Blues, with direct connections to Chicago’s history.
